I want to like the show, but the incredibly predictable nature of the delivery (joke/news/joke/news/joke/news) makes it feel like the writers are doing mad libs.

It’s almost like he and the writing staff want to be considered “real journalists” (they certainly pick some great news worthy topics) but at the end of day are afraid to take that oath seriously and thus use the jokes as a legal escape hatch.
